My annual post recapping where I traveled. Though 2022 was a banner year for travel for me, 2023 wasn’t too far behind. I spent half the year in Minnesota taking care of my visa to move to Italy, so that kept me at home and not traveling for many months—though my trip to Canada during that time really fed my soul, especially the time spent with friends. Plus, starting the year in California in January sparked a nice start to the year, and it was where I found out I had passed my PLIDA exam and my visa process really began to take shape.
Once I moved to Italy in July, of course it was another summer of travel. It’s too hot to stay in Roma anyways! I was in Puglia twice, spent a couple weeks in Calabria, and fit in some other trips in between. If I ever spent a weekend in Rome, chances are at least one of the days I escaped to go to the sea. It was an interesting summer, not quite as beautiful as the last one but it was the summer I finally moved here, so of course things would be a little different.
By the time September arrived and my Italian classes started, I stayed in Rome for the most part, which was exactly what I needed to settle in to this new life. I went back to Minnesota in October for my cousin’s wedding, then back again for the holidays and another cousin wedding. It’s been nice to be able to go back and visit—and honestly weddings are the perfect excuse to plan those trips.
