7 podcasts I’m currently listening to

what I’ve been listening to lately

Like I said in my blog post about working from home, I’ve been saving podcast episodes for my afternoon or evening walks. I’ve found that I can’t be doing anything else while I listen, if I really want to focus and absorb what they are saying. So walking while listening is the perfect solution for me. Walking always helps get my mind moving and new ideas to flow through me anyway, and the podcasts have been nicely adding to that inspiration. I come back feeling refreshed and newly inspired!

If you’re looking for music recommendations, I’ve been loving this lofi playlist while I work. I miss the background noise of being at a cafe, so my friend recommended lofi to me and it is the perfect solution. But if you’re entertaining or want to set the mood for your next date night, check out my other Spotify playlists. I have everything from yoga playlists to the best mix of songs for Valentine’s day or any time you want to feel romantic. If it’s getting late and I’m still doing blog work while I have a glass of wine, Everyday Parisian’s Paris Jazz playlist has been perfect.

Back to the podcasts, though! Here are the ones which new episodes I eagerly await, the ones whose hosts have become my virtual friends, and the ones that inspire and entertain and encourage and get my creative juices flowing.

The Lo & Zo Show

If you follow me on Instagram you know I’m really into the power of manifestation and visualizing your life and dreams. Someone who has taught me A LOT on this topic and influenced me to pursue it is Zoey. I actually found her through her YouTube channel, because she was also an au pair in Rome then lived there a couple more years. Zoey is a huge inspiration to me, and I have been loving this podcast she created with her friend and fellow life coach, Lauren. I cannot recommend this podcast enough, if you want to learn how to live your best life.

The Escape Artist Travel Podcast

This is my latest OBSESSION! I can’t rave about this podcast enough. Travel and creativity are two major influences in my life, and this is a podcast just for people like me, “the culturally curious traveler.” Created by journalist Edwina Hart, the guest list is A-list and the amount of inspiration I come away with is almost overwhelming.

Bad on Paper

Grace Atwood of The Stripe is one of my favorite and most trusted bloggers (she posts on her site every day of the week). She started this podcast with her friend Becca, and together they review books, have very important guests on, and hold advice episodes that I swear by. They actually once answered a question I submitted to the pod about moving, and it gave me the extra push I needed to move to Rome! Regardless, I love their podcast and I consider Becca and Grace my virtual friends. I’m always laughing and relating to whatever they say.

RomComPods

Becca from Bad on Paper actually started this podcast with her friend, and to say I looked forward to it every week is an understatement. It’s unlike any other pod because it’s almost like listening to an audio book, each episode like reading a chapter. The first season followed Clare, on a honeymoon for one in Italy. Of course I ate it up! Season two comes out in October and will follow the campaign trail…I can’t wait.

Emigrant’s Life

Of course I had to mention Daniel’s podcast, Emigrant’s Life, since he kindly had me on as a guest to talk about my au pair experience! This podcast is the place to go if you’re (like me) super curious about other cultures and “stories of people who left their countries to chase a better life.” Listen to my guest appearance, or one of the many other interviews!

2Minutes2Italy

For all my fellow Italy lovers! Rachel’s fairly new podcast is so easy to listen to because every episode is just two minutes long. She talks about all the important topics you might be curious about before you visit Italy, especially if you’re planning to go to Florence where Rachel is based! She offers simple explanations to Italian traditions, customs, and of course, food.

Everything is the Best

This is the podcast of Pia Baroncini, creator of the fashion label LPA . She is married to an Italian, and their beautiful life in Pasadena (just outside of LA) is worth following on Instagram. Pia is always sharing useful health and lifestyle tips, and her podcast follows the same formatting, interviewing knowledgeable people on the subjects they’ve devoted their lives to. She also does conversation style episodes with her husband where they talk about relationships, which I love!
