I’m back again

Strolling through the center, always have to stop at the Pantheon.

After an unplanned hiatus (isn’t it always like that, though?)

Ciaoooo hi hello! It’s been a while but it feels good to finally be back.

I always feel the need to write these little “I’m back” posts after I’ve been away for awhile. I never really intentionally take time off from posting, I’ve just arrived at this point in my life and with this blog where I’m giving myself the freedom to post when and how I want. No rules, no pressure or expectations either. It’s really nice and I love being able to follow the ebbs and flows of my creativity. Sometimes I’m busy living, other times I’m reflecting and putting it all into words.

I’ve just come back from Italy (again) which always seems to be when I pick blogging back up. I’m usually so occupied when I’m there that I don’t have time to blog or record what’s happening. I’ll leave that to Instagram stories for now, which are honestly evolving a lot too. I feel less excited to show every little detail there. Social media is such an illusion sometimes, though I’ve always tried to remain genuine, which has helped me build such a beautiful community of people with similar feelings for Italy and appreciation for beauty.

Now that I’m back in the states for a while (tbd how long but I hope just a couple months), I’m going to update the blog a bit. I am excited to change things up around here, as I’m doing on Instagram. No more posting blogs or photos just because I think it’s what I should be doing. I’m following my instincts and interests and posting more authentically to where my life is now. Maybe I’ll even do some blogs in Italian, as I’ve started to do on Instagram. I have a lot of ideas (per usual—Italy always leaves that impression on me and gives that burst of creativity) and may even do a small rehaul of the site to update it to where I’m at now.

Either way, my life has changed in big ways in the last year, and I want to honor that change and move in this new direction. I think you will all be excited by the content too, especially after conversations I’ve had with friends recently. Let’s all try to be a bit more authentic, in what we’re doing in our lives and what we’re sharing with the world. Plus, I’m excited to push some creative boundaries. Conforming to people’s expectations or to the algorithm can really punish our creative impulses sometimes, in my opinion. Boundaries are always necessary, especially when it comes to creative projects, but they can also hinder us.

So, here’s to being back to blogging, and being more authentic in doing so. I’m happy to be back on here! xxMaggie
