I realized I haven’t shared a lot here on the blog about my experience being an au pair. I think once the pandemic shut the world down, it didn’t feel like the right time to tell my story and share information about moving across the world. I know it’s probably still a strange time to be thinking about going abroad, but becoming an au pair is a long process (probably anywhere from 3-5 months of planning) and the timing might surprise you!
So, I think it’s best to learn more now while the world is at a standstill. Then you’ll be ready when the time comes! I made this vlog to talk all about why I chose RomeAbroad when I decided to be an au pair in Italy. I answer everything from why to be an au pair, why choose an agency, to how to make friends abroad and advice for future travelers.
Honestly though this video BARELY skims the surface of what it’s like to be an au pair and what an amazing experience it was! Like I talk about in the video, au pairing is a great way to live in a different country and see firsthand a different culture. It’s also really nice and comforting to live with a host family.

I promise next time I travel, I’m going to make higher quality videos! I hope you enjoy regardless, I love how video can capture so much emotion from a place.
